What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small piece of code which is saved on your computer, telephone or tablet when you’re surfing on the Internet. Cookies can be used for various purposes, but mainly they are used to collect information about the user’s activities on the Internet or to ensure that a website or a technical solution functions optimally.
